I am getting sick of seeing messages slagging off the board for a lack of activity this close season, people predicting relegation battles and general doom and gloom. The way the board handled the Forssell situation is proof of the work that goes on behind the scenes at the club. Everyone was doubting the board, getting on their backs etc etc etc. The guesss what? Forssell signs for us and all of a sudden all is forgiven. The board learnt from the awful handling and backlash of the Bellamy saga in January to keep their potential trasnfer activity under wraps. I for one applaud them for this. All of a sudden, a new poster arrives on the board with information from a "friend" who has seen tv in Spain and all of a sudden all hell breaks lose! Have none of you actually stopped to consider the possibilty that the Spanish media are exaclty the same as here in England? They will make up stories to sell papers. Even if we dont get Pandiani then it wont be the end of the world. One man does not make a team. What gets me is some of the people who have been moaning that Pandiani is not good enough are the very same posters who are know attacking the board for us not signing him. Unbelievable. We have made some very good additions to the team this summer and only a few days ago Sully state that he intends to bring in 2 more players before the end of the transfer window - which is still 4 WEEKS AWAY. We have good strong youth players coming through the ranks and we have Dunn and Izett returning from injury. Lets just all calm down, not be so quick to jump on the boards back, target individual players and have a little patience FFS. Does Keep right on to the end of the road mean nothing to some of you? We have only just started our journey and already people are falling by the wayside. |

I agree with everything you have said. Maybe this year we might finally see some youth players break into our first team squad. I recall people moaning about that fact last season. I still think our signings will happen. We also still have the option of 2 loan signings, which we always take up anyway. I imagine those will happen very late in the window. |

I totally agree with you, our board is probably one of the best around, they have always backed the manager Think most feel they wanted Pandiani here so much and now if the reports from Spain are true they he won't, but as you say their press is just as bad as ours........and could this just be Deportivo making this up as to get us moving on this again |

I hate to bring this up but Bowyer would probably have been a Birmingham player but for a petition and now people say we need to improve in midfield. Enough Said |

I really think that Kuqi will become a major factor this season. I have not seen or heard that a loan deal has been done for him. Maybe SB plans to use him this season. I hope so, because I can see him becoming a star for us. I am not to stressed over the lack of movement in the transfer market. I reckon the last 2 weeks will be frantic though. I really think that there is a lot of work being done behind the scenes, as we speak. Just not worried at this time. That comes with supporting BCFC for 42 years. ;) |

yes i agree, some fans have short memories, we came up with man City and wba, we have held our own, slowly developed the team, have a good mixture of talent, and are looking to progress to next level, which as sullivan has stated, means we are competiting for every player against Spurs/Charlton/everton etc, who are either in london or have european football to offer. it wll take time, yes they could spend £50m on four top players, and buy instant success, but if it failed our wage structure would be blown to bits, and BCFC plc would be exposed if the directors did not support financially. They have invested carefully, and created sustainable growth, it has taken time, but if you graph the rise it has been upward... with no nasty surprises or struggles.. i remember when we were laughing stock of football, before sullivan, we went thru loads of managers, we even sold the training groun for a few hundred thousand.. now worth millions! as will be next runway for birmingham internation airport... (and the kashir bros knew that, but were desperate for cash) Our club have invested in youth acadamy (Francis pushed for this) the training facilty... the stadium... the players.... the commercial side.... and we have a team full of internationals, that drew at chelsea, beat Arsenal, and drew with Man U, did the double over liverpool and the villa..... would u dared to dream of those results 3 yrs ago? we just need consistancy now! |

Im not too concerned either... isn’t there a story about an old bull and a young bullock standing on the top of a hill look down towards a herd of cows. The young one says to the older one... ’let’s run down there an **** a cow’... the older one replies ‘nah...lets walk down there and **** ’em all!!!!!. I no which one I am. I think I’ll ask admin to build a section just for - Miserable, negative posts only. This way we can all stay happy. |

There is some good positive stuff in the postings above. For me the Board, Brucie and his management team have done well. There are no instant solutions. Roll on the season. I beleive that we will do well. KRO! |

What gets me is the people who moan about the board telling the world Bellamy was coming (and then didn't) are the same people who moan that we aren't hearing anything from the board about new players. It's started to sound like a villa board on here thank god we have people like Standrews4eva to keep spirits up |

Theres moaning, and there is constructive criticism. I for one am not overly happy at our current delves into the transfer market this summer. Im ecstatic about signing Pennant & Forssell. So so with Nafti. But as i mentioned in another post, these are technically replacements. Pennant was the replacement for someone who we got to fill the position last summer (Gronks). Forssell replaced Blake, ok he was signed before the later left, but you get my drift. Nafti for Savage. So we have failed to address Central Midfield with a quality signing and another central defender. Something everyone of you probably would have identified even last summer as positions to address in the near future. Not wanting to depress anyone, but we have two returning players from long term injuries (Dunn and Izzet) a new striker in Forssell whos in the same boat. They could go down again. Then we are back to square one. Yes its if's and buts, but when our so called rivals for European places are making headway in the transfer market it gets frustrating. Even more so with those addition as they could be the difference to making Europe and not. I'm not slating the board, but I would hope were not finished yet in the transfer market. As in my eyes, we haven't really spent our transfer budget. I may be wrong but. Outs Savage sold for £3.5m Gronkjaer for £1.5m Blake for £1m Ins Forssell £3m Pennant £0.5m (rising to £3m) Nafti £0.5m Yes we appreciate the position of where we are, and how long we've been here, I do not expect the worldd, but realistic targets is not too much to ask. It is afterall Sullivan and Gold who enthusiastically inject excitement with statements. These are more often than not, hard to back up! |

It has been a truly frustrating close season , there has been a lot of old cobblers spoke on here (mainly by me !!!) but there has been a bit of cobblers spoken by the board as well , !) 10 million player -my foot , world class midfielder- will believe it when i see it . That is where some get frustrated, we have seen good midfielders go to other clubs and not really pulled out all the stops (parker excused). There are two trains of thought - 1 Look at where we were 3 years ago and look at where we are etc 2 Yes , we are here but lets build on it , lets really try for these top players, lets get to the next level. Me personally i am between both it is good to be where we are but i would like us to build on it, it does make me feel a bit dejected when other teams get players we were linked with and that is natural. Someone mentioned Forssell,Marvellous player , what really did happen with everton, were we his second choice after initial tests worried them. There was a partial admittance that he met with them eventually. All i want is for BCFC to progress every year, i want some of the players like appiah ,miccoli, pandiani , i also want the board to get those sort of players to my club ,nothing wrong with that is there??? |

No, not at all... (two good posts above). I just think you should temper your frustration a tad. If Chelsea get their players then v good players will be surplus to requirement. The Blues Board and Bruce said this months ago. If you still feel the board have failed you - AFTER the deadline, then I think these types of threads are relevant. But while the transfer window is open, we should believe work is being done to sort the very situation you highlight. Let the board Direct proceedings Let the manager manage and as supporters - let’s be supportive of BCFC. (However frustrating it is at times) ;) |

people have got to realise that everyone at the club are doing their best... and as long as people are doing their best then we can't criticise their effort... if they were saying "we can't be bothered to spend the money on this guy" then i'd be concerned... hence the Pandiani situation bothers me a bit... |

I DO believe that the board and Brucie are trying their best in the transfer market, they wouldn't be in this business if they weren't. I just don't belive the hype about spending big. IMO there is limited funds there for Bruce, yes every team has limits, but not a big pot Sully and Gold have made out. Despite their comments I also think we are trying to do things on the cheap and the reason to not spend big, they are scared about signing big fee players incase injury puts their career on hold. Like what has happened with Dunny. Look at most of the recent signings since Dunn joined. Most are probably initial fees with the rest as Add-ons. Heskey, Pennant etc, etc. Can't blame Blues for being shreud but sometimes that can work against you (see early stages of Pandiani deal). Just my opinion like. |

id love to see us go out and splash £30m on Fernando Torres or someone...but its all about the right player becoming available at the right time... if the right players were available at the right time, and if some fans didnt start petitions against their signings, we might make a move or sign someone... |
